Delhi air quality has again hit the bottom, as it dropped from ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’. Its time that people again buy masks to avoid health issues.
According to Sytem of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) the Air Quality Index was recorded at 337, this number falls in ‘very poor’ category of air quality.
SAFAR has predicted that Delhi’s Air quality will remain in very poor category for next few days. Experts believe that air quality is deterioraing due to stubble burning by farmers of Punjab and Haryana.
During this time of the month farmers of Delhi’s neighbouring states burn their crops to prepare for the next. Its not easy for them to clear all the crop due to lack of resources. Government also lacks in aiding farmers to deal with it.
Experts have warned that air quality can further drop down in coming days. This will be due to toxic air coming out of the blazing fire at Bhalaswa landfill site.
An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe.
The Supreme Court-appointed Environment Protection Control Authority (EPCA) on Friday had held a meeting with officials of Punjab, Haryana and the Delhi governments to discuss the pollution situation in the national capital.
